countlesslizzie, posting in tradtattoos @ 12:28pm:

I'm looking for a tattoo that I saw a long time ago on here of an octopus or a squid attacking a pirate ship across a girl side, but I can't find it anywhere. It was huge and it stretched across from her boobs to her thighs.

Or if anyone can show me some cool stuff similar to that, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

simcha, posting in veganpeople @ 12:56pm: New Sherlock Holmes Movie
I didn't see this in the tags, so here's my question:

does anyone have information on whether the dead pigs in the new Sherlock Holmes movie are real? Or if there's any other animal abuse? I figure they must use horses and carriages.

I want to see the movie, but not if it has animal cruelty in it.

Thank you!

Edit: Thank you everyone for your responses. I will pass on this movie since nothing is really certain.

pinksprinkels, posting in vegancooking @ 12:22pm: Avocado Mashed Potatoes
Don't you just love when trying to clean out your pantry ends up in making something you normally would not have tried that is AWESOME?

That is what happened today!

I was poking around my kitchen, trying to use up the food I have and found a few Yukon Gold potatoes and an almost-too-ripe avocado.
After they were soft, I drained them, and mashed them up with the avocado, a splash a original rice milk, and a teensy dab of EB.

DELICIOUS.

And I still have enough rice milk for my cereal tomorrow!

harvestl, posting in veganpeople @ 9:56pm: Vegan in London
Frist of all, yes I have looked at Happy Cow.

I get to go to London! Ever since I went vegan it has been my dream to go back to London. I am going to Dover on Friday morning, spending the day there, and then going to London on Saturday morning and staying until Sunday night. So I don't have much time. Where are the places that I absolutely have to go? I want to make sure to hit all the best spots! I have been in Paris all week, so I haven't been able to really go all hog-wild (pardon the term) food-wise.

And now I want to just live it up and chow down on food and make myself sick from eating so much incredible vegan food before I have to go back to Utah!!!!

xenax, posting in veganpeople @ 3:27pm: Bubble Tea
Hey guys!  So what's the deal with Bubble Tea?   I couldn't find this in older entries so I'm sorry if it's already been discussed before.

I went to a bubble tea place in Long Island where the Chinese woman swore to me up and down that it had no dairy and that it was only made out of taro.  She said that her and other Chinese people hardly ever have dairy so they would not use any milk in their tea.  So I had a glass.

So then I went to Tea Spot in NYC and because I never trust people I asked the lady there as well.  She said that it does have dairy and bone char sugar....so she does not recommend I drink  it.

Is Bubble Tea vegan or not or do you think it really depends on the place that makes it?  The first woman seemed to convince me that no bubble tea ever has milk.  The second said the opposite.

Any  insight would be appreciated!
solidpink, posting in vegetarian @ 12:31pm: Mayo Diet
I'm wanting to do the Mayo Clinic Diet for 7 days (the real Mayo Diet, not the fad one). What should I eat as my main source of protein? (I'm not vegan, but I don't eat eggs or fish.) The Mayo Diet calls for proteins and fats such as in fish (which I don't eat). Normally my proteins come from nuts, oils, certain veggies, and veggie-meat... but the proteins in vegetables won't count, because the vegetable only counts as the vegetable in the Mayo Diet.

Help?

krystina, posting in vegrecipes @ 1:54pm: I've never cooked with tofu before but I'd like to make something with it tonight (preferably a stir fry type meal). Can you guys give me pointers so it doesn't completely suck or turn into a pile or flavorless mush?

sinestetici, posting in veganpeople @ 12:42pm: Hybrid pets and the idiots who support the industry.
First, some links:

http://www.overpill.com/2009/12/21/soviet-scientist-turns-foxes-into-puppies/

And the conversation that started it all:

http://community.livejournal.com/wtf_nature/448257.html

:::

After some research, I found out that these hybrid pets aren't considered exotic in Texas. Maybe the foxes above, but if you take a wild fox and breed it with a domesticated dog, why...that's perfectly acceptable! And I get so irate with people who call these hybrid pets "cute" or "adorable". It's nothing short of sad.

So I want to do something about this. I don't know who to call or who to petition though in order to get these laws changed, however. If anyone has any experience with this, or feels like helping me out in spreading the word, please feel free to email me (sinestetici@gmail.com). I just can't stand by and allow this to keep happening.
